Maxcess, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has promoted Darren Irons to global product manager – Fife Guiding and Inspection. Irons joined Maxcess in 2007 as global product manager – MAGPOWR Tension Control where he launched several product improvements to help customers improve productivity, including IP67-rated load cells, an expanded line of magnetic particle brakes, and a new tension control. The new product launc experience will be invaluable as Maxcess extends the Fife product portfolio. Prior to joining Maxcess, Irons served Texas Instruments, Inc., Dallas, Texas, in various positions including product manager, product line strategy manager, and product marketing manager. He holds an Executive MBA in Finance and Marketing from Baylor University, Waco, Texas.

Chris Harper succeeds Irons as global product manager – MAGPOWR Tension Control. Harper joined MAGPOWR in 1991 and has worked as a service technician and in customer support. In 2002 he became a district manager, serving as a local contact to help Maxcess customers in Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan achieve a diverse range of production goals using Fife, MAGPOWR, and Tidland products. He brings a holistic view of the web handling process and a deep understanding of how guiding, winding, slitting, inspection, and tension control contribute to production quality.

In other personnel news, Maxcess has named Ron Suenram its first director of Emerging Markets. He will help Fife, MAGPOWR, and Tidland customers in rapidly growing markets interact with the company’s expanding network of global production facilities. Suenram joined Fife Corp. in 1979 and has held various positions in manufacturing, quality assurance, sales, and marketing during his 31-year history with the company. Most recently he served as global product manager for Fife Guiding and Inspection. During his role as product manager, he introduced several products to help customers improve efficiency, including D-MAX, the industry’s first web guide controller to speak plain English, and the TruWide Ultrasonic Sensor, the first sensor to simultaneously detect multiple webs of material.

Another personnel change at Maxcess involves the promotion of Ron Schmidt to vice president - Asia Pacific. He will be responsible for sales growth throughout Asia, South America, and other emerging markets, with additional responsibility for Maxcess factories and offices in Japan, India, Singapore, and Brazil. Formerly vice president of Market Development, Schmidt has directly contributed to the success of Maxcess during his 34-year tenure with the company, holding various leadership positions within manufacturing, sales, marketing, and corporate development. He has also demonstrated Maxcess’ commitment to the improvement of the web handling industry through active participation in industry associations. Most recently, he served as president and trustee of AIMCAL’s CEMA Division. He is a current board member of AIMCAL and chairman of its Web Handling Group and AWEB conference.

As the new vice president of Global Operations at Maxcess, Doug Knudtson facilitates the sharing of best practices among the company’s operations worldwide. Knudtson brings extensive human resource, quality, and operational experience to the Maxcess executive team, most recently as the president of Scott Office Systems, Livonia, Michigan. Prior to that he spent 19 years with Brady Corp., Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in a variety of roles, including vice president of Global Operations, where he oversaw 65 manufacturing facilities in 20 countries. Knudtson holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Wisconsin. “Doug has a deep understanding of what it takes to be a worldclass company through experience in supply chain, manufacturing, quality, lean practices, inventory management, and logistics,” says Greg Jehlik, chief executive officer of Maxcess.

With his promotion to sales manager, North America, Darrell Whiteside manages one of the largest networks of factory-trained salespeople in the industry to enhance local sales efforts for Fife, MAGPOWR and Tidland products. Whiteside joined MAGPOWR in 1999, assuming responsibilities for international sales. In 2001 he was promoted to product manager for Tension Control; and, in 2007 he became sales and channel manager for MAGPOWR products. Prior to joining MAGPOWR, Whiteside worked for Watlow Process Systems, Troy, Missouri, as a design engineer and in international sales at Magnetek, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Science with an emphasis on electronics and robotics from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University), Kirksville, Missouri.
