FIFE 70th Anniversary: Never Stopped Moving Forward
FIFE: the unparalleled engineered products and service supplier in the web guiding and inspection system all through the world.
It all began in a small garage of Irwin Fife’s Oklahoma City home in 1939, one of his friends who was undertaking newspaper business, happened to mention the need of a web guide machine to keep the paper in line on the high-speed newspaper printing presses. Fife then put his whole heart into the problem, and completed and installed his first working model next year. That is why the customer called FIFE the legend pioneer of web automation guiding system.
Since the invention of the very first web guiding system over 70 years ago, Fife has continued to engineer and develop truly innovative web guiding and inspection products, providing his customers with solutions that are sure to increase web efficiency and productivity.
FIFE is best known as the industry leader with these two basic product lines: automatic web guiding systems and web inspection systems, for he has a more installation worldwide than anyone else, the industry knowledge of them is unsurpassed, and their highly-trained customer service representatives and field sales engineers will work closely with you to identify the guiding and inspection solution that is perfect for your process line.
From the thinnest plastic film to the thickest steel strip, from the narrowest webs to the widest rolls, FIFE delivers a full line of advanced guiding systems and products to meet the needs of any application.
FIFE’s typical guiding system consists of a sensor, controller, power unit, actuator and web guide assembly. In general, sensors monitor the exact position of the moving web and transmit that information to the controller. The controller then sends a signal to the power units to adjust the strip positioning assembly to maintain accurate alignment of the web. Today, some of the popular controller products are D-MAX™ Series Web Guide Controllers, Polaris™ Web Guide Controller.
As you know, one size sensor does not fit all web.
For that very reason, FIFE develops a variety of sensors to suit any guiding application. Their versatile line of sensors can accommodate edge guiding, line/pattern guiding, or center guiding (fixed or moving) in any type of environment, and, more importantly, for any type of material. To be more specific, the type of FIFE sensors include Infraed, Pneumatic, Ultrasonic, Intrinsically Safe, Visible Light and Laser, Wide band, Fiber optic, Capacitance, Inductive, and Camera sensors such as DAC-004 Diode Array Camera.
Web inspection systems from FIFE are available for virtually every application.
It is especially ideal for the in-process inspection of printing registration, color, and coatings, these visual and video web inspection systems offer simple setup and operation, as well as high quality image viewing. FIFE offers a range of solutions, from low-cost systems for general use to modular systems with options for future growth. Now, InPrint™ Inspection system and Scan-A-Web Visual Inspection System have a large buyer.
